Because Life Just Comes With Challenges

Confidentiality Policy

At CAPS we believe that confidentiality is one of the most important and essential prerequisites to anything and everything we do as clinicians with our clients/students. For students to truly benefit from our services, first and foremost, they must feel comfortable to talk openly about their concerns and this is dependent upon whether they genuinely feel that their privacy will be taken seriously. This happens not only from the messages we communicate, but in our actions as well. Therefore, CAPS has a strict confidentiality policy and will not release any information regarding contact with a student without permission from the client except in situations where the safety of the student or another person is, or may potentially be, compromised. It is the client's responsibility to choose whether to discuss any contact with CAPS with their parents, friends, administrators, and/or professors. With the exception of mandated referrals, CAPS also will not disclose whether a student has not had any contact with the clinic.
